Mario Barron

Mario Barron is a dancer/drag artist from San Jose, CA. He was born and raised in Bakersfield, CA, where he expressed himself through music, writing, and color guard. It was not until he was eighteen years old when he took his first dance class, at San Jose State University (SJSU). This served as a catalyst to fully dive into the arts. Upon acceptance into the  Dance Performance BFA program at SJSU, Mario had the opportunity to work with Raphael Boumaila and Heather Cooper. The bulk of Barron’s training consisted of Limón training, and he was able to learn and perform excerpts from A Choreographic Offering, Psalm, Missa Brevis, and The Winged.  Mario’s directors even exposed him to other amazing artists, such as Doug Varone, Kyle Abraham, Mike Esperanza, and Kara Davis. Along with these opportunities, Mario performed at the American College Dance Association’s National Gala in Washington D.C., and at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Becket, MA. In addition to performing, Barron is also passionate about creating works and being on the administration side of art! He currently leads his project-based company, Barron&Co, in performances all over the Bay Area, and is the color guard director of Los Gatos High School. Wherever art is happening, you will find Mario closeby. During his free time, you can catch him training for his next race (a half-marathon!) or volunteering for local events with Silicon Valley Pride. Mario Barron is thrilled to begin his new journey with Pacific Ballet Academy!
